JobHalal is an independent editorial guide dedicated to work that is compatible with Muslim ethics. It is written for people who want to reconcile their working life with their convictions: job seekers, employees, students, entrepreneurs and anyone considering working abroad.
What JobHalal does
The site publishes general information guides on three themes:
- questions about whether jobs and income are lawful, presented on the basis of the common positions of scholars;
- employees' rights regarding religious practice, summarised from general legal principles;
- the sectors of the halal economy and the employment situation in different countries.
What JobHalal does not do
JobHalal is neither a recruitment agency nor a jobs board. It publishes no job vacancies, does not shortlist candidates, does not forward CVs and does not represent any employer. No service is charged for, and nobody is authorised to ask for money on the site's behalf. If someone offers you a job in JobHalal's name in exchange for payment, it is an attempted fraud.
Our editorial approach
The guides aim to be clear, practical and cautious. They draw on public sources: international organisations, standards bodies and official websites on employment law and mobility. The main sources are cited at the bottom of each page.
On religious questions, JobHalal issues no fatwas. The pages set out the generally accepted principles and the points of disagreement, then invite readers to consult a qualified scholar about their personal situation. On legal questions, they describe the general framework and refer readers to the competent authorities, without amounting to legal advice. The site remains neutral towards the different schools of thought and any political position.
